The Solano Avenue Construction Project is nearing completion. THE STREET HAS BEEN PAVED AND PARKING IS NOW PLENTIFUL IN FRONT OF ALL THE BUSINESSES ON THE AVENUE. Most of the heavy equipment has been removed and street traffic is back to normal with no closures expected. During October the new trees, benches, light fixtures and other accessories will be installed completing the final steps of the street upgrade.

The new sidewalks and parking setup have already received accolades from business owners and residents. When the trees and benches have arrived Albany Solano Avenue will be a fantastic community center for everybody to enjoy. If you have not seen it lately come down and check it out.

Three Course Pris Fixe Dinner for $20

The new menu for October 1998 feature the quality foods and presentations which have become the trademark of Solano Grill & Bar. The dishes will focus on the flavors of wintertime as it approaches (however slowly). Specifically look for the squashes, vegetables and fruits which highlight this season.

The big news, however, is the new PRIS FIXE DINNER which Chef Sam Chen will be presenting. The PRIS FIXE DINNER will be available at dinner 7 days a week and features your choice of a salad or appetizer, followed by your choice of entree, and complemented by a delicious dessert. Guests will have the option of SELECTING FROM ANY OF THE DISHES ON THE REGULAR DINNER MENU. This THREE COURSE PRIS FIXE DINNER is being offered for only $20 per person. This is not a special offer but will be offered at dinner 7 days a week.

Solano Grill & Bar received the ‘Best Award of Excellence’ from Wine Spectator Magazine in September - the third year in a row that Director of Beverages Philip Chen has been so honored.

To celebrate this achievement Philip has assembled a list of THIRTY WINES AVAILABLE FOR $20 A BOTTLE EVERYDAY. These wines were hand picked by Philip as wines which he feels offer exceptional quality at a reasonable price. It was this philosophy which contributed to quality of the Wine Program at Solano Grill & Bar and it is this philosophy which is being celebrated.

The ‘Best Award of Excellence’ was awarded to 375 restaurants WORLDWIDE including only 25 in the Bay Area and less than 45 in California. Receiving this award continues the recognition which Philip and his Wine Program have received in the past months. A feature article in Diablo Magazine about the Program and a extensive discussion in a review by Food Editor Deborah Byrd of the West County Times newspapers also brought Philip attention.
